Internet of Caring Things (IoCT) has published a case study on KeySpot®, highlighting the support provided through the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing’s programme.
Building on the first prototype
KeySpot had already progressed to an initial physical prototype through University of Sunderland innovation support. IoCT helped build on that foundation, supporting further prototype development and a clearer commercial direction.
The programme’s public case-study post highlights three areas of support:
- Refining the KeySpot prototype.
- Strengthening the commercial strategy.
- Preparing for manufacturing, testing and investment.
A clearer product and a wider vision
The programme also helped develop the thinking behind Disguised Security Technology™ (DST™). KeySpot is the product: discreet spare-key storage integrated into an everyday property feature. DST is the wider approach to reducing obvious access signals.
The case study records an important development stage—turning practical locksmith experience into a more developed product and business proposition.
