Hope Street Xchange featured KeySpot Security Ltd in a business spotlight published on 3 March 2026, sharing the story behind KeySpot® and founder Mark Cowie’s approach to discreet property access.
A problem spotted on the job
Working as a locksmith, Mark saw that people needed a practical way to share access with staff, contractors and others. He also saw concerns about storage that made the location of a spare key obvious.
KeySpot grew from a simple question: how can authorised people get the key they need without advertising where it is kept?
Developing the idea in Sunderland
The feature describes KeySpot’s progress from an idea to a working prototype. It also explores how being based at Hope Street Xchange provided a professional workspace, access to advice and opportunities to connect with other businesses.
That development sits alongside Mark’s wider vision for Disguised Security Technology™: considering how security features fit into their surroundings and what their appearance communicates.
